The Charles Norman Collection
The Charles Norman Collection, on long-term loan to the Usher Gallery, is the finest collection in the world of artists’ work on late 18th Century Derby porcelain cabinet pieces. It represents the golden age of Derby porcelain and the many artists who worked at the factory at that time, from Richard Askew to Edward Withers, including such great names as William Billingsley and Zachariah Boreman. The collection illustrates the superb standards that had been reached by the 1790s.
It contains the most complete Derby tea and coffee service known to exist, which has a delightful yellow ground and was decorated by George Robertson.
