The Norman Conquest in Lincoln: stories from the coins

Join Anja Rohde for an archaeological Lunchtime Lecture

Coins are among the most important and most fascinating categories of archaeological evidence. In this illustrated talk, Anja Rohde will explore the impact of the Norman conquest on Lincoln and the wider area through the evidence of coins, looking at major political events, the lives of ordinary citizens, and the artistry and manufacture of the coins themselves.

Anja Rohde is a PhD candidate at the University of Nottingham, studying the coinages of William I and William II and the implications for our understanding of the Norman conquest.

This talk is part of our ongoing Lunchtime Lectures series. It will be held in the auditorium at The Collection, starting at 12.30 and lasting for approximately 30 minutes.

Tickets cost £3 per person, available from the museum reception desk.
