The Charter of the Forest

Join Dr Erik Grigg for a lunchtime talk

On 6th November 1217 the Charter of the Forest was issued, giving back traditional rights to ordinary people to use Royal hunting grounds for agriculture and livestock grazing. Almost exactly 800 years to the day since its issue, Dr Grigg will explore the creation and continuing significance of this document, of which Lincoln can proudly boast having copies from both 1217 and 1225.

Dr Erik Grigg is Learning Officer for Lincolnshire Heritage Services.

This talk is part of our ongoing Lunchtime Lectures series. It will be held in the auditorium at The Collection, starting at 12.30 and lasting for approximately 30 minutes.

Tickets cost £3 per person, available from the museum reception desk and through Digitickets.
