Textile based installation
Rachel Olin - Souzou: Unravel and Reveal
28 November – 3 January 2016
Preview 3rd December 5-7pm
The Collection, Lincoln
Imagine the Prehistoric Human. Inhabiting a world which is harsh and unforgiving. Possessing the base survival instinct that allows them to endure whilst also possessing a level of consciousness previously unknown.
Spirituality and creativity go hand in hand, without creativity the vast wealth of spiritual practice wouldn't exist. The instinct of all living creatures is to protect themselves; in the case of Humans, this instinct for self-preservation manifests itself physically and spiritually.
Souzou: Unravel and Reveal is a reduction of this idea to its simplest forms: serenity and fear. This textile installation follows Rachel Olin’s distinct form of textural, tactile minimal style.
Rachel Olin is a graduate of Bishop Grosseteste University College. She currently specialises in textile based installations and sculptures and at this time is interested in exploring the evolution of humans and the rise of our civilisations.
