New Monday Art Group - Talk by Keith Jobling ‘The Gold Lyre of Ur’

A fascinating chance to see a replica of the famous Gold Lyre of Ur, followed by a film screening of 'Letters from Baghdad'.

Keith Jobling will talk about the remaking of an authentic and playable version of the famous 2500 BC Gold Lyre of Ur, which was vandalised during the looting of The National Museum of Iraq in 2003.  More information on this amazing achievement can be found at www.lyre-of-ur.com.

The talk, organised by the New Monday Art Group, starts at 10.30 am (coffee and tea from 10.15am) in The Collection Auditorium.

No need to book, just £7.00 on the door, including tea, coffee and biscuits.

Following this, at 1.15pm, a documentary film Letters from Baghdad will be shown (free of charge), supported by Lincoln Film Society.  The film stars Tilda Swinton as the voice of Gertrude Bell, the British writer, traveller and archaeologist who played a major part in the establishment of the Museum of Iraq.
