Micromégas

An art exhibition at the Project Space Plus Gallery featuring science-fiction based work in response to Micromégas by French philosopher Voltaire.

Located at the Project Space Plus Gallery at the University of Lincoln until Friday 5th February. Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm.  Entry to the exhibition is free.

This mobile exhibition/publication brings together posters by a range of artists which were commissioned in response to Voltaire’s Micromégas text of 1752, a seminal work in the genre of science fiction which functions as a commentary on human foible, scientific superstitions and anti-utopias.

The large-scale posters form a component of the exhibition, and when folded, an element of the publication. The exhibition and publication investigate notions of portability, reproduction, distribution and presentation in contemporary art practice and curation with reference to Marcel Duchamp’s Boîte en Valise.
