Lincolnshire One Venues Creative Summer

A programme of memorable community arts events presented by individuals and groups from across Lincolnshire, supported by the arts organisations that make up Lincolnshire One Venues and funded by a grant from Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

The Collection Museum are pleased to be supporting Development Plus and Making Up Your Street to produce memorable events with community groups in Lincoln. These two events will take place on Saturday 17 September at Bridge Central in Sincil Bank and Bridge Community Hub on Newark Rd.

Museum of Mental Health

Development Plus have worked with their community users to produce a map of mental health services across Lincoln. The results have been turned into an inspirational newspaper giving residents of Lincoln a one stop shop for mental health resources with a focus on creative arts opportunities. Lincoln offers a rich and diverse array of green spaces and creative opportunities, make sure you pick up your copy and explore them!

Join Development Plus and many other partners in celebrating the Museum of Mental Health:

Saturday 17 September, 11am to 3pm

Bridge Central, Portland St, Lincoln LN5 7NN

The event will showcase art and wellbeing activity across the City of Lincoln, promoting existing organisations and initiatives that give support in the community for people to come together in a safe environment to improve their wellbeing especially those experiencing mental and physical health challenges.

Development Plus want to promote the message that art is for everyone and to encourage people after Covid to begin to get out and seek out your venues. They would like to support people to feel brave enough to express themselves creatively, encourage their talents and build support networks around their interests.

Making Up Your Street

Artists Laura Mabbutt and Kathleen Smith have worked with local food bank/community hub users to produce two bespoke artworks. These beautiful metal sculptures were created by Kathleen following workshops in the community with food bank users. The two artworks will be unveiled on Saturday 17 September at the Bridge Community Hub and Bridge Central on Monday 19 September. Inspired by Flora and Fauna these sculptures will feature augmented reality. Tablets will be available at both locations to make sure everyone can enjoy these elements of the sculptures. The sculptures will then remain in each venue for members of the community to continue to enjoy.
