Lincoln A to Z
An exhibition of Lincoln sounds, images, stories and poems collected by Paul Tyler and Johnny Haw.
Paul Tyler and Johnny Haw present their multi-media project Lincoln A to Z; discover their collection of sounds, images, interviews and contributions from the places and people they met along the way.
Two years ago, 52 grid squares from the Lincoln AtoZ Street Map were picked from a hat by members of the public. Since then, Paul Tyler and Jonny Haw have been on a mission to visit all 52 chosen grids and make a radio programme about each one, whether it contained busy city streets, retail parks or even empty fields. They examined each grid square in detail, walking the streets, taking photos, recording audio and taking time to notice the nooks and crannies we usually pass by. The results of their visits have been broadcast weekly on community radio station Siren FM, East Midlands Station of the Year.
As the radio series comes to an end, the Lincoln AtoZ Exhibition at The Collection is the culmination of their journey and brings together works by a number of local artists inspired by the AtoZ concept. The exhibition includes works by photographers Rob Rickels, Kate Tyler and Julian Clune, artists Phil Martin, James Relf, Philip Clarke and Rosie Ablewhite.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is an installation by Paul Tyler featuring objects collected from each grid square.
