This Saturday Joey Richardson will be taking up residence in the Usher Gallery within the LAS exhibition. During her residency, Joey Richardson will be using wood forms she has previously turned, using piercing, texturing, carving and airbrushing techniques to create her artwork. By exploring and illustrating stories through symbolic form and repeated motifs, Joey creates a soul for each unique artwork, allowing the viewer to see the life of the piece.
Joey Richardson is an English artist known for her delicate wood forms. She grew up in rural Lincolnshire, which inspired her love for woodland. Her artwork explores the emotional relationship between humans and trees. Joey mainly works with reclaimed local timber, giving it new purpose and vigour. She has received prestigious awards, and her sculptures are in permanent collections worldwide. Her biggest achievement is the creation of the shaft for the Platinum Jubilee Processional Cross, a gift to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. She continues to live and work in Lincolnshire, using carefully sourced wood for her exhibitions.
