A Lincolnshire Odyssey

Chris Goddard is a Lincoln based photographer specialising in documenting the social landscape of Lincolnshire, often bringing a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour to somewhat serious subjects.

With a background in editorial documentary for the likes of The Observer and Time Out he has a keen eye for issues that are played out visually but are often bypassed by the casual onlooker.

Fantasy Island documents the seaside resorts of Lincolnshire. It is a spin off project from his larger photographic odyssey Jerusalem which is shown projected.

“Some of my most vivid childhood memories are from visits to Lincolnshire’s seaside towns. The concrete utilitarian architecture contrarily dedicated to ‘fun’ and designed to mug the innocent; the garish colours, paraphernalia, saucy humour, tawdriness and smells of seaside holidays; the sun, sand and perishing coldness of the North Sea, which is oddly brown”.
