During the expansion of their Empire, the lure of good farming land and access to trade routes brought the Romans to our shores and into Lincolnshire. Their invasion and eventual settlement stamped its mark on the county, creating a landscape rich in heritage. Our tour begins at the Celtic roundhouse, with a brief introduction on the local tribe and the impact this invasion had on their lives. We will look at the Legion that built the fort and how Lincoln became a city and got its name, through investigating various artefacts on display. The tour will explore the fascinating objects found beneath our feet. With the opportunity to handle a few real artefacts and learn interesting facts, this tour is ideal for any who wishes to know more about Roman Lincoln.
