To celebrate Lincolnshire Day we are offering a FREE guided tour in the museum gallery looking at how the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings shaped Lincolnshire.  Throughout history the attractions of fertile farming land and proximity to trade routes encouraged many invaders and settlers to Lincolnshire: the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, in particular, have left their mark on our county. This tour aims to explore the elements which combine to show how the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings shaped the distinctive character of the county. We will investigate the evidence left behind, such as their objects, through reconstructions and the origins of place names. With the opportunity to handle some real artefacts and learn fascinating facts, this tour is ideal for anyone wanting to know about historic Lincolnshire.
