Artists have for many centuries taken inspiration from their natural surroundings and have depicted the natural environment as their chosen subject matter. There are many well established artists who have chosen to work directly with the earth's resources and incorporating elements of nature into a modern art space setting. The tour will focus on the collections currently on display at The Usher Gallery, with focus upon Stuart Haygarth's 'Chandelier' and work by Andy Goldsworthy, Garry Fabian Miller. This will be an opportunity to reflect upon their relevance to today's society, highlighting our environmental impact from consumerism, and how art can be used to challenge our perceptions of what art is.
