Interplay
The installation was inspired by sensory rooms in adult day care centers where workshops were held, allowing this artwork to be created. These sensory rooms do not follow the typical rules for indoor spaces, often eliminating daylight and furniture in favor of projected light and textured surfaces. The Interplay installation transformed the courtyard gallery space with patterns, colors, and light to capture this specific atmosphere, inviting the viewer to use the space in an unusual way and creating a dynamic environment within the gallery. Since 2020, the artists Lumo have collaborated with adult day centers in Lincolnshire through the Lincoln Museum’s outreach program. This long-term project has impacted the lives of over 60 individuals and their carers. Lumo has shaped a program of person-centered activities that build pride, grow skills, and develop a sense of ownership through creative projects.
