Course Details

Using the exhibition Transmitter Receiver: The Persistence of Collage as the starting point, participants will develop a series of collages using several techniques that will act as catalysts for working on a final artwork.  We will start off the week on smaller works using various collage techniques to enable ideas to evolve and skills to be developed, leading towards the development of your final artwork. Danica will offer ideas, suggestions, guidance and feedback; furthermore the group will discuss their individual ideas and propose suggestions for each other.  This course is tailor for you to work with your own particular interests and concerns and develop final work through the process of collage.

The following outline offers some idea of how the week breaks down. However depending on group’s interests and individual’s skills and ideas this may be somewhat adaptated. There will be lots of time for personal exploration and individuals will be given flexibility to focus on their own work whilst working in a supportive environment.

Monday:  AM: Groups welcome. Visit exhibition, discuss artist intentions and identify key techniques.
PM: Introduction to tools and techniques. Begin series of short collage works: overlap & placement.

Tuesday: AM & PM: Work on series of short collage works: window, marquetry, recreation & abstraction

Wednesday AM: Work on series of short collage works: folding & 3d work
PM: Group discussion of all work created, using it as a starting point for the development for the final artwork.

Thursday AM & PM: Work on final artworks, with 121 support from Danica.
