Opem 3: The Collection’s 3rd Open Contemporary Art Exhibition

Get to know the artists exhibiting at Opem 3 this summer, The Collection’s third biennial open exhibition for artists living or working in the East Midlands and Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, North & North East Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire & East Riding. For the first time, all selected artists received funding to create a new work for the exhibition. The selectors this year were Jess Flood-Paddock – Artist and Mark Leckey – Artist, Curator and Turner Prize winner 2008, and the selected artists are; Michael Shaw, Michelle Arieu, John Wiltshire, James E Smith, Laura McCafferty, Neville Palmer, Georgie Grace and Lynn Fulton.


How would you describe your work?

From painting & drawing to moving image, porcelain, sculpture and 3D scans - discover the exciting and varied mediums which this year's selected artists create their artwork with.


What are you interested in?

Colour, folklore, architecture, observation, simplicity, de-materialism - find out what inspires the artists and why.


What do you enjoy about the materials you use?

Find out what inspires the artists about their chosen mediums and processes.


Why is art important to you?

A heartwarming and enlightening candid discussion about why art is important to the artists.
