Following on from our successful previous series of Lunchtime Lectures on 'Classical Mythology' and 'Medieval Life and Law', we are pleased to announce a new series of lectures, this time with a Roman theme.

The series features illustrated lectures from museum staff and guest experts and will take a wide look at various aspects of Roman Lincolnshire, from the architecture and development of Lincoln, through the evidence we have for the city's occupants, to evidence of a mysterious cult and news of new discoveries changing how we think of the settlement of the county.

As with previous Lunchtime Lectures, all of the talks begin at 12.30 in our auditorium and last approximately 30 minutes.  All talks are completely FREE, and there is no need to book - just turn up and enjoy!

The talks in the series are:

14 June 2013 - People of Roman Lincoln: Legionaries (Antony Lee, The Collection)

12 July 2013 - People of Roman Lincoln: Citizens (Antony Lee, The Collection)

16 August 2013 - How Roman was Roman Lincoln? (Dr Michael J Jones)

13 September 2013 - The Roman Cult of Toutatis (Adam Daubney, Portable Antiquities Scheme)

18 October 2013 - Recent Roman Discoveries at Bishop Grosseteste University (Dr Craig Spence, Bishop Grosseteste University)

15 November 2013 - Recent Excavations at the Roman Small Town at Navenby (Ian Cox, Navenby Archaeology Group)

We look forward to seeing you at the talks!
