Annie Morrad and Ian McArthur live at opposite ends of the planet. They compose and play collaborative sound work and live performances through the use of digital software Mixlr and Skype. Morrad (London) and McArthur (Sydney) began working together in 2014 exploring their interest in sound art, rhythm in the urban environment, improvisation, jazz, crowds and the city. During live events McArthur broadcasts electronic sounds, field recordings and live mixing. Morrad plays live improvised alto and tenor saxophone against these. For their recorded sound work the starting points vary from being concept driven to 'I've got this idea…'

With their art exhibition, Itinerant Mind, currently on display in the Courtyard Gallery of The Collection, we wanted to try and help them as much as possible for allowing us to  host such a truly immersive and unique exhibition. The Album - A Cycle of Slight Movement
After a prolific year of digital releases Morrad+McArthur release their first CD album 'A Cycle of Slight Movement'. The album compiles seven of the duo’s recent improvised works. Their compositions are developed and refined through online conversations between Sydney and London, the artists speaking through this dialectic and their personal approach and style of expression to produce each piece. They utilise urbania - in mood, in content, and in flow and understanding.

'A Cycle of Slight Movement' is available in CD and digital download formats along with other releases via Bandcamp at: https://morradandmcarthur.bandcamp.com/

Experimental Radio – Morrad+McArthur on Wave Farm (NY)
In early 2016 Morrad+McArthur launched a monthly telematic sound art program again on New York based experimental online radio station Wave Farm at free103.9 WGXC. https://wavefarm.org/wgxc/schedule/y1e2ta

In the radio context the work locates itself in a physical space somewhere in the ether/atmosphere between NYC, Sydney and London. When using ‘Skype’ as a third element, there is a point or space between sounds. This manifests itself through its lack of stability. It imparts uncontrolled and irrepressible aspects. This includes glitches, repeats, sound drop and time delays, becoming a third element, unseen and volatile, almost another musician but unlike another musician: unpredictable. It’s this space that holds intrigue and is a rich space for exploration.

Morrad & McArthur performances have included appearances at Lee Campbell’s 'Tactics of Interruption' at the Toynbee Studios of ArtsAdmin London in June 2016, at 'Extra Sonic Practice' a noise art event staged by the ESP group of sonic researchers at Lincoln University, at 'Carbon Meets Silicon' in Wrexham, Wales (September 2015) and at the GNARL Fest, the East Midlands International Festival of Live and Video Art in 2014.
