The Collective held their first art event on the 12-12-12. The event was a day long art bonanza full of exciting happenings and visual art. The Collective organised this event over a period of a few weeks with regular meetings and wanted to choose a date that would be remembered, for their first artistic endeavour.

The day was packed and the activities available ranged from Children’s story time to an evening of Pecha Kucha Presentations. The event attracted numerous visitors throughout the day and evening, and great interest was shown in The Collective’s ideas and approaches.

The artists featured in 12-12-12 were Lizzie Dunn, Amir Ghazi-Noory, Laura Mahony, Rachel Olin, Thomas Cuthbertson and Kim Woodard. Live music was performed by various young people in the Stokes Café and kept spirits high!

An arist led walk was led by Joshua Lockwood in the Usher Gallery gardens. You can see images of the walk and the people who took part in The Collections Online Gallery '12-12-12'

The Pecha Kucha Presentations were the second round of talks The Collection has hosted. There was a range of artists, curators and guest speakers invited to discuss their interests and ideas with an audience. Pecha Kucha is a Japanese style of presenting, meant to keep presentations short and concise. The presentations on the 12-12-12 were 20 slides long at 20 seconds each.

Kim Woodard, a member of The Collective said “This is a great start for The Collective, and the opportunity to exhibit in an established gallery and museum is an amazing experience! The event showed such a varied array of art and music that it just shows how much talent we have here in Lincoln. The Collective have a lot more up their sleeves regarding new events – look out for us in the very near future!”

A special thanks for everyone involved in the 12-12-12 event, especially The Collection, all of the artists and speakers, and Chelsey from LOV.
